Hello, I am Darren. I am writer/programmer/behind-the-scenes idea guy for PrudentandPractical.com. It was me and my wife Kristin’s idea to create this blog about the things that make life creative, efficient, fun, and affordable.

I am a licensed mechanical engineer, and my day job provides many opportunities to think creatively, efficiently, and practically about projects I am working on.

MONEY

I have always been frugal with my money, almost to a fault. My wife on the other hand, was a free spirit with her cash. Its been a difficult transition into married life to blend two different financial backgrounds, but we have made it work quite well.

I am fascinated and enjoy learning about about technology. I know my way around a computer and can generally troubleshoot almost any computer issue. Coincidentally, I have become the go to guy for almost all the families technical troubleshooting and repair. Naturally, handling the programming for the blog was right up my ally, although I am still leaning everyday.

I am definitely a DIY person.  I love the satisfaction of building something with your own hands. I like to learn how to do something and then go and do it.  I get the same satisfaction from the experience of a creating a project as from the finished product.
