Hi, I’m Kristin and I write Prudent and Practical to help people save money by doing things yourself. I started Prudent and Practical in November 2008 to show people that saving money can be eco-friendly and fun. Before getting married, I already had money spent before it was mine – a complete opposite (financially) of my husband. I’ve learned how to save money by being creative. In college, I took courses in engineering and design before finding my calling in horticulture.
I have a passion for teaching others, research, and DIY things whether it’s crafts or home improvements. I like to find designer looks and designer knockoffs for less (friends and family sure can’t tell the difference). I’m also involved with the Master Gardeners and 4H in my county.
I have too many hobbies and you’ll read about them frequently on this site.
- Doing home improvement projects, gardening, and crafts on a minimal budget.
- Reading, movies, and books – purchased or rented at a discount (or even free!)
- Learning to become more “green” and realizing that I can save money while helping the environment.
- Cooking, baking, experimenting with new recipes – some work, some don’t.
